The State Government on Tuesday released a Vision-2025-Healthcare for all; each life matters” in the Make in Odisha Conclave being held here in the presence of healthcare industry leaders.
Releasing the vision, Health Minister Pratap Jena said, “The State Government is committed to the growth of healthcare infrastructure and assures investors unmatched facilitation support to partner in realizing the developmental goals of Odisha”
Health and Family Welfare Secretary Dr Pramod Meherda said Odisha has around 36,000 hospital beds for 42 million people, which leaves a large health infrastructure gap of 1,20,000 hospital beds.
He said private healthcare facilities comprise of only 27.59 per cent of the State’s healthcare facilities and thus, there is a large headroom for growth of the private sector.
Meherda said that dix more medical colleges are planned by 2025 at Puri, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Talcher and Keonjhar.
He said the State has so far achieved IMR at 40, MMR at 222, 85 per cent institutional birth and 79 per cent immunization.
NHM Director Shalini Pandit spoke on the key features of the “Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana”, which provides cashless services to insured patients.
Various partnership projects including, setting up digital dispensaries at Rs 90 crore, diagnostic and dialysis services at Rs 700 crore, affordable healthcare project at 25 locations with at Rs 1,300 crore, cardiac care at Jharsuguda at Rs 70 crore, cancer care projects at Rs 600 crore and opportunities to set up manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, equipment, instruments were discussed. All of these projects entail an approximate investment of Rs 2,750 crore, which would be rolled out within the next 2-3 years.

They appreciated the affordable healthcare projects and expressed eagerness to upscale their role in actualizing the State’s Vision-2025.
