Addressing a symposium on the subject of programmes to be held on 150th anniversary of Gandhi Ji at Rajbhavan, the Governor Anandiben Patel said that there is need to spread the ideals and views of Mahatma Gandhi among the young generation.
Hence, it is duty of the institutions and persons associated with Gandhian philosophy that they should make efforts to spread Gandhi Ji's ideals and views among the children.
She said that suggestions received in this symposium will be incorporated in the programme to begin from October 2. Freedom fighters, Gandhian thinkers, intellectuals, writers, journalists and teachers were present in the symposium.
The Governor Patel said that all should set the goal and organise programmes with earnestness. She said that one household item of daily use including Khadi clothes manufactured by poor through khadi cottage industry board must be purchased in a year. The Governor said that the Prime Minister has appealed to youths that as they purchase products of other companies looking brand, they should include Khadi brand of Gandhi Ji in it.
The Governor said that if we make joint efforts, the concept of Gandhi Ji's Swaraj can be fulfilled.
Governor Smt. Patel said that Gandhi Ji was strictly against liquor. Therefore, concrete efforts should be made for de-addiction in the country and the state. At least in a village, de-addiction campaign should be conducted seriously and with dedication by voluntary and social organisations.
Through this, we can de-addict large number of people.
She said that we should extend help in removing family problems and upliftment of women working as maid in houses. Patel said that health checkup camps should be held in urban bodies for workers and they should be provided free treatment.
