Thundershower lashed Dehradun in the morning on Thursday, resulting in a dip in the mercury. The sky was overcast since early morning. The rain accompanied with gusty winds which continued for some hours was followed by a feel of cold as the mercury dipped considerably. The people were seen with woollens on.   The Meteorological department said that there is little chance of rain in Dehradun on Friday. The climate would be generally dry in the State on the day though it might rain or drizzle at a few places across the Kumaon region, as per the weather report sent by the regional Met department.  

The denizens of Dehradun welcomed the rain, saying that it would be the harbinger of the winter. “We took the woollens out of the cupboard after it rained in the morning.

We have now the feel of the approaching winter. We hope that the temperature would now dip steadily to pave the way for the real chilly winter to arrive,” said a resident of Dalanwala.

However, the Met department said that the real winter would take some more time to arrive. The Met officers said that the morning’s rain has caused the maximum temperature to dip by a few notches while the minimum gained.  They, further, said that the minimum temperature is likely to dip now with each passing day. However, they have not ruled out the possibility of more rain in the coming days.   

The maximum and the minimum temperatures are likely to be in the neighbourhood of 30 degree and 15 degree Celsius in the city on Friday.

On Thursday, the minimum temperature of the city settled at 18.5 degree Celsius- one notch above the normal- while the maximum was 27.2 degree Celsius, two notches below the normal. While in Mukteshwar, the minimum temperature settled at 9.8 degree Celsius it was 12.6 degree Celsius in New Tehri on Thursday.
