Total Rs 3 lakh cash seized from two vehicles

During checking of vehicles as part of the election Model Code of Conduct enforced in state, a team led by Tehsildhar seized total of Rs 3 lakh cash from two different vehicles at Janakpur of Baikunthpur in Koriya district. The persons keeping the cash were unable to show any documents related to source of cash.

As per information received, at Bharatpur-Chanti barrier of Janakpur area in Koria district, a team led by Tehsildhar were holding vehicle check during evening hours. They had stopped a Innova car passing through the barrier at around 5.30 pm.

In the normal car, Rs 1 lakh cash was found. The car owner Vishwaraj Singh during interrogation said that he is a businessman. He is going to Kotadol to Shahdol. But he could not give satisfactory reply on the cash in hand and could not produce any documents related to it. After which, Tehsildhar initiated seizure action.

Similarly, at 6.30 pm, near Manendragarh tri-square, one innova car was stopped for inspection. The driver Santosh Kashyap had kept around Rs 2 lakh. He also could not produce any documents related to cash. He said that he was going to Janakpur to Chirmiri. Tehsildhar made the seizure of cash.

In both cases, after seizure for necessary action, the cases have been forwarded to district level committee for further action.

Manmohan Singh, Tehsildhar, Bharatpur-Janakpur of Koriya district said that the election team and police has made three points for checking. The first point is Chanti, second is Kotadol Neur and third is Manendragarh Tri-square.

On seizure of cash, he said that the two caught, one owner and the other driver did not have any cash related documents to prove the source of cash. They also could not give satisfactory reply also. As per the directive of Election Commission of India, it has been forwarded to district electoral officer office for further action.
