Transgender leader Rajni Rawat makes contest difficult for Congress, BJP

Sunday, 21 October 2018 | PNS | Dehradun

Even before the declaration of the official candidates of both BJP and Congress for the post of mayor of Dehradun civic body, the social worker and transgender leader Rajni Rawat has made things difficult for them. Rawat whose candidature was declared by Aam Aadami Party (AAP) on Friday is expected to give a tough fight to BJP and Congress candidates. Given her track record, the observers opine that she would do more harm to the Congress candidate than that of the BJP as she has considerable influence in the slum areas.

It is pertinent to mention here that in the mayoral election 2013, Rajni Rawat secured more than 44,000 votes which were more than what the official Congress candidate polled.
