Under the aegis of Central Air Command (CAC) Allahabad, Air Force Station Bhowali, a trek to Panchkedar is now being conducted.  Eleven air warriors from various stations under CAC set course on the trek during which they would ascend a height of 11000 ft. The 120-km long trek was flagged off from Bhowali Camp by Group Captain T S Pruthi, the Station Commander, Air Force Station Bhowali.

During the 12-day trek which would end on October 31, the team led by the Air Commodore V K Sashidaran would trek through the five revered shrines-Kedarnath, Tungnath, Madhyamaheshwar, Rudranath and Kaleswar (PanchKedar)-believed to have been traversed by Lord Shiva.  The trek while providing the breathtaking panoramic view of the majestic Himalayas would also promote the spirit of adventure and team spirit among the participants, the organisers said.

Such adventure activities are undertaken by Indian Air Force from time to time to test the physical and mental stamina of the air warriors and also to help them learn how to accept unknown challenges and overcome them successfully.

Trekking in the inhospitable mountain range of Garhwal offers first hand opportunity to the air warriors to understand the challenges of high-altitude terrain where they can be deployed for operations or during natural calamities, said a senior Air Force officer, adding that they would continue to conduct such treks in time to come with the same objective of preparing the air warriors to triumphantly negotiate the unknown challenges lurking in their way.
