Meet engaging Radio partners was organised by UNICEF in partnership with Sandhiya Samiti at Salini in Omkareshwar. Around 20 radio partners from Red FM, Radio Mirchi, Big FM, MY FM, Vanya Radio, representatives of community radio of Bhopal School of Social Work as well as five adolescents from Jhabua participated in the meet.
Speaking in session of the meet, Michael Juma, Chief, UNICEF, and Madhya Pradesh said that Radio is a powerful medium of communication for empowering, informing and sensitising people particularly on advancing the rights of children. He expressed gratitude to Radio professionals who have been part of this event for commemorating World Children’s Day and request you to give air time on topical child rights issues inclusive of ‘takeover’ of your social media by children.
Anil Gulati, Communication Specialist, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh, spoke about Convention on the rights of the child, and that rights are interdependent and indivisible. He said Radio can support in and stand for children and by children
Dr Vandana Bhatia, Health Specialist, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh made presentation on new born care, causes of deaths of new born, importance of breastfeeding, and infant and young child feeding practices and key messages which we as radio partners spread for child health.
Pinky, Sheela, Sanju, Bablu, and Sunil from Jhabua from Jhabua spoke the issues which they face and how they as their children group in Jhabua talking about the issues.
Radio participants drew ‘child in them’ and shared and also will be used on their social media handles.
Sumit Pathak of Sandhiya Samiti said engaging radio professionals for this social cause will amplify go blue and will ensure it reaches every household, sensitising them will help child rights awareness penetrate more.
