Union Coal Minister Piyush Goyal motivated the budding sports talent and young cadets during his visit at sports academy at Khelgaon, Hotwar on Saturday and motivated them to do hard work for securing gold medals for the country in the ‘Olympic Games- 2024’.

Goyal appreciated CMD of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Gopal Singh and his team for making this sports academy a huge success in this short span of time. This sports academy is indeed a significant enterprise of CCL and Jharkhand Government, to fulfill the dream of our PM and support his flagship programme ‘Khelo India’.

“Government is working to create an environment and infrastructure to nurture the sports talents in the country and this academy will be an example in this direction. Upliftment of the downtrodden and welfare of the last man of the society i.e. “Antodaya” is the prime objective of our PM and the State Government under Chief Minister Raghubar Das is working tirelessly towards it,” said Goyal.

He further asked the management to scout the talents from the far flung areas and villages of Jharkhand as there is no dearth of talents here. Jharkhand has given the country sports icon in form of MS Dhoni, Deepika Kumari, Madhumita Kumari and many more.

Acknowledging on the transparent and scientific selection process of the academy, Goyal said that while favoritism should not be accommodated at any cost to ensure that only the best talent should get selected in the academy. The Minister also asked to scale up the infrastructure and develop it into a world class facility to include young kids from other states also.

The Minister interacted with the sports cadets and inspected their hostel to take stock of the facilities, hygiene, training, and diet provided to the cadets in the academy. He also presented them with blazers and answered their curious question about country and his thoughts about the academy. He said that the social bond and cultural diversity is what makes our country unique.

Gopal Singh expressed his gratitude towards the minister. Singh said that it was the vision and initiative of CM, Jharkhand State, Raghubar Das and the Minister which led to commencement of this sports academy. He said that these young cadets are doing justice to the facilities provided to them and guidance of their coach through.

“I am pretty sure that our sports cadets can compete with any competitors from across the country in their respective sports. We nurture these kids to become a good human being,” Singh further added.
