Union Min Rajen Gohain to inaugurate Vendor Development Programme

Tuesday, 18 December 2018 | PNS | Jamshedpur

State Government in partnership with Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA) is all set to organise a mega event on December 19 and 20 at Adityapur Auto Cluster. The event titled ‘Vendor Development Programme in the Railway & Defence Sector’ is designed for the development of industries located in Adityapur Industrial Area.

Minister of state for railways Rajen Gohain has confirmed participation. He will inaugurate the event jointly with chief minister Raghubar Das. ASIA general secretary Santosh Khaitan said apart from interactive sessions and exhibtions the event will also see foundation stone laying ceremony of 100 new industrial projects across the state, the MoU for which was signed during the Global Investors Summit in Ranchi in February, 2017.

“It is the most awaited event for us. Of the 100 new industrial projects, 27 will come up in areas under the jurisdiction of Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA)," said Khaitan.

As many as 112 stalls will be put up at the exhibition area by local industrial units of Adityapur, vendors and PSUs of railway and defence sectors. The two-day event will draw around 100 delegates from different parts of the country.

Functionaries of ASIA informed that invitations have been sent to all the 17 railway zones including South Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway and East Coast Railway. The defence sector will witness participation from companies under Ordinance Factories Board, which is among the top 50 defence equipment manufacturers in the world.

Industrialist A K Sinha said that now Adityapur Industrial Area has fully grown and more than 600 units have directly or indirectly making components for Tata Motors and other Tata Group of Industries located at Jamshedpur. Whenever there is slow demand of automobile vehicles, the quantum of order on ancillaries located in Adityapur is slashed.  This situation has occurred this year also.  The slow demand is due to poor infrastructure especially the poor condition of road.

“There has been lapses in our part i.e. entrepreneurs of Adityapur, Jamshedpur as we have never thought of developing item for Defence, Railway etc.

We understand that there is good scope of developing spares, equipment & other ancillaries item for various ordinance factories located in the country. Since the local ancillaries are basically ancillary supplier of Tata Motors, Telcon, Tata Steel, TRF, Tinplate, Lafarge, Cummins, Timken, they are quality conscious and can also provide competitive rate,” noted Sinha.
