Union Ministers to attend various sessions in Investors' Summit

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate the Investors’ Summit on October 7 in Dehradun, various Union Ministers will be the chief guests for different sessions to be held as part of the summit. The chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said this while chairing a meeting to review preparations for the summit here on Tuesday.

The chief secretary informed that for the manufacturing session, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu and Union Minister for Heavy Industry Anant Geete will be the special guests. He, further, said that chief Guest for the Tourism session will be Union Minister of State for Tourism, Alphons Kannanthanam. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari will be the chief guest for the session on infrastructure.

For the information technology and electronics session, the Union Minister for IT and Electronics, Ravi Shankar Prasad is slated to be the chief guest while Union Minister for Food Procession, Harsimrat Kaur Badal is to be the chief guest in the session on agriculture. The Union Minister for Health, JP Nadda will be the chief guest in the session on health.

The industries principal secretary Manisha Panwar informed that GAIL would invest Rs 680 crore and Railway Development Corporation would invest Rs 30,000 crores in the Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line. Every year, there will be investment of Rs 250 crore in the State. The ONGC is spending Rs 10 crore from CSR funds. The banking sector is also assisting in the industrialisation through loans. The State’s hydro power corporation will invest about Rs 2000 crore while the THDC will also invest Rs 2000 crore in hydro power projects.

Finance secretary Amit Singh Negi, industries director Sudhir Nautiyal and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
