The Vishwakarma Puja was celebrated in Jharsuguda district with great enthusiasm on Monday.
Though it was a holiday in factories but the workers gathered to celebrate the day. They paid their obeisance to Lord Viswhakarma, the god of tools and machinery.
The mechanical and technical persons were instructed not to use their tools and equipment on the day of the Puja. The festival was observed in MCL's Lakhanpur, Belpahar, Samleshwary, Lajkura Opencast Mine, Vedanta, OPGC and TRL Krosaki. Besides vehicle's showroom, fuel pumps, various garages and transport offices decorated their premises. They washed all their trucks and heavy duty vehicles.
The truck and auto rickshaw owners also decorated their vehicles with colourful artificial flowers and ribbons in Jharsuguda, Brajrajnagar, Belpahar, Bandhbahal and Banharpali town.
On Tuesday, the idols of Viswakarma were immersed in river Bheden and other water bodies in the district.
