Winter chill spurts woollens sales in Nainital

Monday, 12 November 2018 | PNS | Nainital

After nearly a week of intermittent cloudy weather, people in Nainital enjoyed a clear sunny Sunday. With the level of mercury dropping in the region, both tourists and locals could be seen making purchases from local shops selling woollens and other winter clothing.

For nearly a week now, Nainital had been experiencing cloudy skies after midday.

With cloudy skies and fog from the mountains reaching the town later during the day, the people were experiencing bitter cold. However, this Sunday was different with clear skies and the sun shining from morning till the late afternoon.

According the meteorological centre local in charge Pratap Singh Bisht, the maximum temperature on Sunday was 16 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, with the level of mercury dropping, the people have starting purchasing woollen clothing.

The Tibetan and Bhotia bazaars noted for woolen clothing, attracted brisk business this Sunday.

Those who found the winter clothing too expensive at these bazaars were seen buying the same from roadside vendors on the stretch from Pant Park in Mallital to the Gurudwara.
