Wrong way of storing grains leads to wastage

The country is constantly increasing its food production capacity but on the other hand produce of farmers is getting wasted because of wrong methods of storing and handlings of the harvested grains.

In order to prevent this wastage, one of the world's largest agriculture based company UPL has launched Anaj Bachao; Dana Dana Keemti hai (Protect Grains; Each and Every Grain is Precious) Campaign in Bhopal on Monday, said Ujjwal Kumar, Head, Fumigant Business, UPL.

He said that the main objective of this campaign is to create awareness among the farmers for proper storage of grains and keep it safe from the insects and fungus which will increase their income as well as help the world to attain food security.

Pankaj Joshi, General Manager UPL said, “This campaign will cover 15 districts in Madhya Pradesh. The initiative will be organized in Bhopal, Indore, Dewas, Satna, Vidisha, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Katni, Itarsi, Khandwa, Mandsaur, Neemuch etc districts of Madhya Pradesh.”

UPL has already launched this initiative in Bihar, UP, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu states also, which received positive response from the farmers as well as grain store operators.

Through this campaign, UPL also wants to support Central Government's ambitious project of Doubling Farmers’ Income. Under this campaign, the farmers will be made aware of the scientific methods of storing their grains with live demonstration at their door steps.

During the demonstration the UPL team gave the training for the method of preventing food grain loss with the use of its advanced product Quickphos.
