Yogi: PAC to have three dedicated Mahila Bns

Tuesday, 18 December 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday hailed the contribution of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawans in maintaining law and order and extending relief during natural calamities.

Stressing the need of introducing women personnel in the worlds biggest reserved police force, Yogi announced the creation of three dedicated Mahila battalions beside raising a battalion in Shamli.

The Chief Minister was addressing a function on the 70th Raising Day of PAC at the 35th PAC Battalion campus on Monday.

Hailing the contribution of the PAC officers and jawans, Yogi said, “Your contribution and services has been recognised by everyone. Now more and more states, especially in north-east and northern regions, have sought your services both for maintaining law and order and for relief operations after natural calamity.”

“The PAC has an outstanding history of it’s 70-year-long contribution on every front. I feel proud to say that you all have shown your worth on each occasion. During natural calamities, disasters or mishaps, PAC personnel have worked tirelessly until help was extended to the last victim. The force has a special identity across the country for it’s professional skill and services,” Yogi said.

The Chief Minister further said, “Be it festivals, fair, or any other gathering, PAC jawans have worked round-the-clock to ensure peace and order. Not only this, in adverse conditions like monsoons, PAC jawans have saved people in floods and also saved their belongings.”

Elaborating the importance of the PAC, Yogi said that PAC personnel had become a necessity not only on the law and order front but even when it was required to fight ultras or any given exigency.

“The elite Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Special Task Force (STF) have majority of commandos drawn from the PAC as they are well trained to fight any attack against the country. Recently, during formation of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), majority of PAC jawans extended their services,” the Chief Minister pointed out

Yogi did not lose the opportunity to attack his political rivals and accused previous governments of overlooking the welfare of the force and for not extending necessary help to the PAC.

“Those PAC battalions which became non-active during previous regimes have been re-activated after BJP came to power,” he added.

Stressing the need for bringing in women in the world’s largest police force, Yogi said, “We will soon come up with three dedicated Mahila Battalions in the state and a separate PAC battalion has also been cleared for Shamli.”

The Chief  Minister later handed over awards to PAC personnel for their outstanding achievements in sports or contribution in social field.

Besides the Chief Minister, the function was also attended by DGP OP Singh, ADG (PAC) RK Vishwakarma and several senior officers.
