Gujarat Government has signed a MoU with Aditya Birla Group’s Hindalco Industries to set up India’s biggest aluminium extrusion and aluminium recycling plants with an estimated investment of Rs 3, 500-crore in the State.
The aluminium extrusion plant of 1.50-lakh tonnes annual capacity will entail an investment of Rs 2, 000-crore in two tranches, and the aluminium recycling plant of 3.00-lakh tonnes annual capacity Rs 1,500-crore. The projects will provide direct and indirect employment to 3,000 people.
The Chief Minister discussed the possibility of setting a desalination plant to fulfil the water requirements of the aluminium plants on PPP model. He also gave an idea of the State Government’s incentive policies to make Gujarat a land of opportunities for investors.
The MoU was signed between Principal Secretary for Industries and Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary M. K. Das and Hindalco Industries Managing Director Satish Pai. The company’s Senior President Arun Kumar and Joint President Sandeep Roy were also present.
