The Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-D), organised its second Industry Day 2018 — “Accelerating Innovation in Science & Technology” on Saturday. The IIT-D flagship programme is a platform that brought together academic researchers and business houses from across the board.
With the aim for promoting innovation and research done by the institute at the flagship programme “Industry Day 2018” a range of innovations, start-ups and products developed by the students of IIT-D were displayed. IIT-D is focusing on commercialisation of technical solutions through patents and start-ups.
“The event brought together over 350 industry experts to discuss major collaborations and build relationships between industry and academia based on current societal requirement,” informed IIT-D.
The Industry Day focused on five themes - Healthcare for all, smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence and Blockchain Technologies, Sustainable Habitat and Strengthening the Start-up Eco-system under which the event highlighted IIT Delhi's array of cutting-edge work and research capabilities.
Prof. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi said, “Industry Day presents an ideal way to identify meaningful collaborations that will both enhance industry and research needs. This year's event has been a stimulating one for the attendees and we are happy that we will be moving towards bringing exciting new developments to market.”
A host of innovative solutions were on display, such as Pesticide-based treatment for snake bites, the advancement of recombinant DNA technology, Ultra Precision Machining for Strategic Manufacturing Capability, Air Pollution Monitoring from Space and Phase Change Material (PCM) incorporated bricks for composite climate.
