RSS to hold ‘Janagrah rally’ on Nov 25

Sunday, 11 November 2018 | PNS | New Delhi

As the temple politics warms up in Uttar Pradesh(UP) with the Yogi Adityanath -led  BJP Government renaming Faizabad district as Ayodhya, the Rashtriya Sawayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to organise ‘Janagrah rally’ in three cities, including Ayodhya, on November 25 to drum-up support for the construction of Ram temple at the disputed site.

The rallies would be simultaneously organised at Nagpur, Bengaluru and Ayodhya on November 25 to build tempo for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, according to RSS leaders.

The move is seen as  a precursor to the launching of a nation-wide campaign for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya with the Lok Sabha polls only months away, next year. UP returns 80 Lok Sabha MP to the lower house of Parliament. BJP has given enough indication that it would  give a big push to the  debate on the Ayodhya issue during the coming winter session of the Parliament. BJP's Rajya Sabha member Rakesh Sinha is to bring a private member bill in the upper house for the construction of the temple at Ayodhya.

According to RSS functionaries a large scale galvanisation is on and lakhs of  of people, including RSS volunteers and saints, would participate in the rally to appeal to the people to support start of the temple construction. They are hoping that over five lakh people may participate in the main rally in Ayodhya.

Supreme Court is expected to  fix the date of hearing in the case of the title suit in the Ram temple-Babri Masjid case , early next year.

RSS functionary of Kashi region Ambarish Kumar has been quoted as saying , "A large number of people will participate in the rally at Ayodhya on November 25. Ram temple is a centre of faith for millions of Hindus and they can't wait too long for Ram temple."

RSS head Mohan Bhagwat had last month at an RSS lecture series here called for the resolution of the Ram temple issue saying it could lead to removing of a main stumbling block in the way of Hindu-Muslim relations.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), an RSS outfit, is in the forefront of mobilising public support for the temple agitation.

"The VHP has been demanding that the government bring a law at the earliest to build a grand Ram temple at Ayodhya. We will be holding countrywide rallies from November 25 followed by other rallies in December," VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal said.

He said that the organisation will be holding three rallies in Ayodhya, Nagpur and Bengaluru on November 25. It will be followed by a grand rally in the national capital on December 9.

"Lakhs of Ram bhakts will participate in these rallies. And ultimately, we will wage a nation-wide movement from December 18," he said.

VHP had announced holding of public meetings in each and every parliamentary constituency and said that the delegations of sants will meet their MPs and urge them to make a law in Parliament.

The RSS and the VHP have been demanding that the central government enact a law in Parliament's Winter Session for constructing a Ram temple.

Meanwhile,  amid growing demands for a Ram temple, Savitribai Phule, the BJP MP from Bahraich, has called for installing a statue of Lord Buddha at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

"Excavations carried out at the disputed site in Ayodhya on the directions of the high court had found certain things associated with Lord Buddha," Phule claimed.

"Therefore, a statue of Lord Buddha should be installed at the same place," she told newspersons on Friday night.

"I want to make it clear that Bharat belonged to Buddha, and Ayodhya is the place of Buddha. Therefore, a statue of Buddha should be installed there," the Phule who is known to be a disgruntled  party MP.
