Nios launches a sign language channel

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has launched its Swayam Prabha Channel 30-Gyan Amrit, for those learners who are either deaf or can listen partially. The channel was inaugurated by Prakash Javadekar, the Minister for HRD in the presence of the Chairman of NIOS, C B Sharma. For classes 10th and 12th there will be a video in sign language in each subject. A new course to revive vedic education in Sanskrit medium under Bharatiya Gyan Parampara has also been launched. All lessons on this course will also be available on this channel.

Lemon Tree Hotel, Aurangabad wins National Tourism Award

The Lemon Tree Hotel, Aurangabad, has won the National Tourism Award 2016-17 for the best hotel in the three-star category. The president of Lemon Tree Hotels Limited (LTHL), Vikramjit Singh, said, “We have focused our efforts on redefining the mid-scale hotel segment and on offering our consumers great, consistent quality at a very reasonable price.”

Mary Kom is Tribes India’s Brand Ambassador

The Tribes India and TRIFED, under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, launched the ‘Punch Tantra' Diwali collection and announced Mary Kom as the Brand Ambassador of Tribes India. The Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, said, “The probable potential of TRIFED is more than many other PSUs and if utilised properly, it may become a game changer in the Indian economy.” Mary Kom is Tribes India’s Brand Ambassador

The Union Minister for Human Resources Department (Higher Education), Dr Satyapal Singh, inaugurated the Atal Tinkering Lab at the Navyug School at Sarojini Nagar along with the NDMC School Management System. Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines in 29 secondary and senior secondary schools of the NDMC were also commissioned.

Northern Railways’ voluntary organ donation campaign

In collaboration with the Organ Retrieval Banking Organisation (ORBO), AIIMS, Delhi, the general manager of the Northern Railways, Vishwesh Chaube, has initiated a voluntary organ donation awareness and registration camp at New Delhi to sensitise the employees to voluntarily donate organs.

Patna's girl cracks SSB in first attempt

Ojaswita Shree from Patna has been shortlisted in the group of top 12 girls pan-India in the Combined Defense Services Exam conducted by the UPSC. She cracked the SSB interview in her first attempt. Expressing her gratitude towards the valuable guidance provided to her by Army Officer Surendra Singh, she said, “It helped me immensely in cracking SSB and eventually making it to the top ranks.”

ITPO to organise IISE from Oct 5-7

The 21st edition of the India International Security Expo (IISE) will be inaugurated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir on October 5, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event will be held from October 5 to 7 and is being organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) with the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The co-organisers are CISF and BPR&D. This is the only security expo in South Asia region which enjoys the support of all state police forces, NDMA, CRPF, BSF, ITPB, SSB, Delhi Police, SPG and DFS, ONGC, Delhi Metro, NDMC, NSIC, SAIL, NBCC, Shapoorji Pallonji, L&T and Amity University, Noida.
