BV TECH EXPO POSTPONED TO MARCH 2019

The second BV Tech Expo India and the second E-Vehicle Show India, which was to be organised by the M7 Creation from November 22-24, at the NSIC Exhibition Complex in Okhla, New Delhi, has been postponed to March 2019. The organiser of the expo, Anupreet Singh Jaggi, informed that due to unavailability of ample space for the exhibitors, they have decided to extend the expo to March 22-24, 2019.

No visa fee to visit Thailand for Indians

The Thai government recently approved the exemption of the visa-on-arrival fee for citizens of 20 countries. From November 15, 2018, to January 13, 2019, citizens of India, Andora, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China including Taiwan, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan will be exempted from the 2,000 Baht visa-on-arrival fee for the purpose of touring in Thailand not more than 15 days.

PM to launch City Gas distribution bidding at Deoghar, Sheikhpura and Jamui

The Deoghar, Sheikhpura and Jamui districts will be included within the 50 Geographical Areas under the 10th bidding round of City Gas Distribution to be launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. GAIL (India) Limited's Jagadishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline project, also popular as ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga', shall serve as the feeder source for natural gas supply to the proposed city gas project in addition to maintaining supplies to various fertiliser and industrial units enroute.

Khadi once again won the accolades from the Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, when he visited the exclusive stall of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) at the Ambedakar International Center, before chairing the commemorative event of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, organised by FICCI-Aditya Birla CSR Centre for Excellence.

The Technological Institute of Textile and Sciences (TIT&S), Bhiwani, Haryana, is celebrating its platinum jubilee on November 24. In a pre-event, the director of TIT&S, Prof G K Tyagi, informed that the member secretary of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Prof Alok Mittal, will grace the occasion as the chief guest while the vice chancellor of the Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Prof B K Punia, will be the guest of honour at the milestone event.

The CRPF pavilion at the IITF 2018 at Pragati Maidan provides a glimpse into the duties, achievements, gallantry acts, training, weapons used by the CRPF, and various theaters that CRPF works in. The pavilion theme is —‘Sarvatra Vidyaman, Satat Gatiman' which means ‘present everywhere, perpetually moving'. The pavilion depicts historical moments and the journey of CRPF through time from the day of its raising.

The Buyer-Seller-Meet of the Indian handicrafts, home furnishings, floorings and textiles, Indian house ware, decoratives and fashion accessories was inaugurated on November 19 at Copenhagen by the Ambassador of India in Denmark, His Excellency Ajit Gupte, along with the chairman of the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), O P Prahladka, and the EPCH's executive director, Rakesh Kumar.

Guide to strengthen concrete structures in India

The department of civil engineering, SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana, organised a guest lecture on ‘Deterioration Mechanism and Durability of Reinforced Concrete' on November 20, inviting the  former special director general of CPWD, Er Ashok Kumar Sharma. Given his 42 years of CPWD and EIL experience, Sharma informed the students about the bad practices followed in the country which cause early deterioration of concrete structures and explained the steps one should take to ensure long life of these structures.

Hunar Haat at IITF records overwhelming response

The ongoing India International Trade Fair, 2018, is attracting a large crowd at Pragati Maidan to the Khadi Pavilion and ‘Saras’, on eco-friendly khadi, rural crafts and industry items. Apart  from the rural handicrafts  in the state pavilions, as many as 94 master artisans mainly belonging to minorities from 22 states have been making a mark with a treasure trove of their artifacts created with their traditional skills at the ‘Hunar Haat'. Organised by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, the display profile ‘Hunar Haat' features  the legacy of Indian culture displays, beauty, dignity, form and style to enliven  the  home  as  well as the office space.

Amitava Mukherjee is NMDC’s new Director (Finance)

Amitava Mukherjee has assumed the charge as Director (Finance) of NMDC Limited, a Schedule ‘A' Government of India Enterprise, with Navratna status, under the Ministry of Steel. From the 1995 batch of the Indian Railway Accounts Services (IRAS), he is a Cost Accountant and holds a Master of Commerce degree from the Guru Ghasi Das University, Bilaspur. Prior to joining NMDC, he held the post of General Manager (Finance) in Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for a period of around two and half years. During his service in IRAS, he held various key positions in the Eastern Railways from 1997 to 2016 like the head of the Standing Core Committee on Service Tax, Traffic Accounts Office and the IT Department. Before joining the IRAS, he worked in the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) as Accounts Officer from 1994-1997. During his service period in the Indian Railways, Mukherjee received the National Award for outstanding services during the year 2006. He was also nominated by the Railway Board to various task groups for centralised applications of finance and accounts department of the Indian Railways for monitoring progress and to suggest improvements and enhancements to such applications and for Development of Traffic Accounts Management System. He has attended various international training programmes conducted by the European School of Business at London and Paris; ICLIF at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and INSEAD at Singapore.
