‘Gender solidarity is positive’

Actress Sharmila Tagore believes that creating gender solidarity is a step towards a better tomorrow.

She said, “As a female actor in Bollywood, owing to some choices I made I was often perceived by some as a social suspect and by some as a woman ahead of her times. Both brickbats and bouquets by different sections came my way, however I stood my ground. Today my decisions have been vindicated both by my industry colleagues and viewers. Ironically, those choices are even celebrated as game changers. True, it is empowering to make one's own choices and continue doing what one believes in but it’s even more joyful to receive encouragement to do so rather than being questioned, put down or dissuaded. Creating gender solidarity is a positive concept.”

‘Some ridiculous and inhuman things have happened in the past few years and I know that new talents might fear to step into the industry. But as member of the fraternity, we have to make sure that women are treated with the utmost dignity and there is no abuse of power.’

— Saif Ali Khan

Actor Salman Khan, who celebrated 20 years of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, revealed that he agreed to do the film, as, “Karan met my sister Alvira and told her that he’s looking for a third character for a short role in his first film. Alvira told me, ‘He is a really good guy. It's his first film, you should help him.’ After that, I told him that I will do it for my sister, Yash (Johar) uncle, Hiroo (Johar) aunty, Karan Johar and Shah Rukh.

Ariana says bye to social media

Singer Ariana Grande plans to quit social media following her split from Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson.

“Ok today was very special and I am so grateful I was able to be there,” Grande said on social media, which has since been deleted.

“Time to say bye bye again to the internet for just a little bit. It's hard not to bump news and stuff that I'm not trying to see... It's very sad and we're all trying very hard to keep going. Love you and thank you for being here always,” Grande added.
