Afghan ‘cleric' faces stoning death over sex tapes scandal

Afghanistan: A self-proclaimed cleric in Afghanistan, who allegedly filmed himself having sex with women, is on the run after the videos went viral on social media, prompting religious leaders to order his death by stoning. Mullah Rasool, a traditional healer who wrote amulets for clients in a village in the northwestern province of Faryab, is accused of sexually exploiting and raping several women who had gone to him for help.

Trump says US will only give aid ‘to our friends’

United Nations:President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the United States would only give aid to countries that it regarded as allies. “We will examine what is working, what is not working, and whether the countries who receive our dollars and our protection also have our interests at heart,” Trump said in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

US imposes sanctions on Venezuelan prez’s wife

WashingtonThe US Treasury went after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s inner circle Tuesday, imposing sanctions on his wife, vice president and other close associates.

Treasury named Cilia Adela Flores de Maduro, a former attorney general and the president’s wife, as one of the figures who has helped Maduro retain his grip on power, along with Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.
