UN pushes for truce corridors at Yemen
Rimbo (Sweden): Mediators in UN-brokered talks on Yemen pushed on Wednesday for a truce between warring parties as a crucial step to allow aid deliveries, with 24 hours left in the negotiations. Mediators are seeking a de-escalation of violence in two flashpoint cities: rebel-held Hodeida, a port city vital to the supply of humanitarian aid, and Taiz, Yemen’s third largest city, scene of some of the war’s most intense fighting.
27 terrorists killed in Sinai, border with Libya
Cairo: Egypt says its security forces have killed at least 27 suspected terrorists in the restive northern Sinai Peninsula and along its porous border with Libya.
Sweden freezes support to UNAIDS
Stockholm: Sweden said on Wednesday it was freezing its support to UNAIDS until its executive director is removed, after an expert report blasted the agency’s leadership for systematically failing to address bullying, abuse and sexual harassment. The Swedish Govt has no confidence in Michel Sidibe to lead the organisation.
