With a vision to ‘Cultivate one million children in India as Neoteric Innovators’, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), housed at NITI Aayog, is establishing Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) in schools across India. The objective of this scheme is to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds; and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, physical computing etc.
AIM, in collaboration with the Global Education and Leadership Foundation, has created the Ethical Leadership in Tinkering and Innovation (ELTI) module to inculcate the ethics and values that form the bedrock of innovation for social good in young minds of the ATL network. The module makes use of activities to provide students a framework to promote hands-on learning and tinkering with students in India. The ELTI module is rolled out to ATLs and can be accessed online at http://aim.gov.in/pdf/ATL_ELTI_Module.pdf
This experiential programme includes hands-on activities that are both challenging and thought-provoking, aiming at reigniting conversations on the code of conduct and ethics in innovation, and taking decisive action to combat challenges in a sustained manner. The module is aimed at ATL in-charges/ teachers/mentors who would follow it to teach the students about ethical leadership skills. The module has been created in Do-It-Yourself mode so that students can themselves conduct the activities and self-learn.
