Congress leader and ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah Monday strongly opposed the the three-language formula in the draft National Education Policy, which has now been dropped, saying imposition of Hindi is nothing but “a brutal assault” on the States.
“Nothing should be done against our opinion. There is no need for three languages. English and Kannada are there... They are enough. Kannada is our mother tongue, so primacy should be given to Kannada,” he said. In Mysuru, he told reporters there will be no compromise on issues of Karnataka’s water, land and language.
