A Pakistani terrorist of Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT) terror outfit was eliminated by the joint team of security forces in Gund area of Ganderbal on early Tuesday morning.
The operation was launched by the security forces after receiving specific input about their presence in the area. According to police the killed terrorist has been identified as Khalid alias Zebran,a Pakistani national. Security forces also recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site even as search operation was still going on in the area.
Earlier, on Monday, two terrorists were killed in Bandipora after a 12-hour-long gun battle with the security forces. Both the gunmen were identified and belonged to the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit.
Meanwhile, Pakistan army violated ceasefire agreement along the line of control in Shahpur and Kirni sectors of Poonch district. Several civilian areas were hit by Pakistan army with mortar shelling, official sources said.
Defence PRO in Jammu said, “the Pakistan Army initiated ‘unprovoked’ ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Shahpur and Kirni sectors around 3.15 p.m”. He said, the Indian Army retaliated befittingly.
