Shah: Illegal immigrants will be thrown out of country

Monday, 25 February 2019 | Mohit Kandhari | Jammu

Launching Bharatiya Janta Party's Lok Sabha poll campaign from Jammu, National President Amit Shah, Sunday said  the party would ensure that every illegal immigrant from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Assam to Gujarat is thrown out of the country, following the Assam model.   He also urged Congress President Rahul Gandhi to spell out his party's stand on the contentious issue.

On his arrival in Jammu Shah also paid homage to martyrs of Pulwama terror attack.

Addressing a rally of booth workers he reiterated resolve of the Modi government to fight militancy saying “the BJP government has zero-tolerance on terrorism”.

Referring to the National Register of Citizens in Assam, the BJP president said, "his party would carry out a similar exercise from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Assam to Gujarat to ensure that every illegal immigrant is thrown out of the country".

Referring to Rohingyas, camping in Jammu for a long time, Shah said, some people are treating Jammu as a big 'dharamshala' and camping here for a long time without completing legal formalities. He said BJP will allow only those permitted under law to stay back in India, rest all of them will be evicted.

Highlighting discrimination of Ladakh and Jammu divisions by the previous regimes Shah said “chowkidar”, in an apparent reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ensured that funds meant for these regions are spent for development.

“Previous dynastic governments of Congress, the National Conference and the PDP were more bothered about their own development but ever since the BJP took over, we ensured that every single penny reaches common people,” Shah said.He also listed developmental projects sanctioned and completed by the Modi government  in the last five years in the state.

ReferrING to the February 14 Pulwama terror attack, in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed, Shah said “their sacrifice will not go in vain”. “The Prime Minister has authorised security forces to take any punitive action they think fit against perpetrators of terrorism,” he said.

Launching a scathing attack on opposition parties, who are joining hands to defeat BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Shah said they are a bunch of  'dynasts' who are still struggling to elect their leader. He said before electing new Prime Minister voters should compare whether this rag tag coalition of leaders is good enough to handle issues of National security or not.

During the rally large number of workers raised slogans demanding abrogation of Article 35A, 370 to save Jammu.

“Jammu Ko Bachana Hoga toh 370, 35A Hatana Hoga (To save Jammu, abrogation of Article 370 and 35A is must),” shouted people attending the rally. Shah, however, avoided mention of Article 370 and 35-A in his address.

He said that the BJP is committed to rectify the “blunders committed” by the first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru in dealing J&K after partition.

“Problems of Hyderabad and Junagarh were more complex as compared to Kashmir but Sardar Patel had solved the same with conviction and vision,”  Shah said adding that Jawahar Lal Nehru failed to solve issue of Kashmir which he was handling himself.

“I am giving this message from Jammu that the Narendra Modi government is committed to rectify the mistakes of great grand-father of Congress president Rahul Gandhi,” he added and attacked Congress by shifting all blames on Nehru for giving “special status” to J&K.
