Summer is here. Along with keeping the skin healthy, it is important to take care of the eyes as well. ROSHANI DEVI shares home remedies that will relax your eyes and keep them Protected

The most important thing to keep in mind is to get the required amount of sleep. One should  sleep for at least six to eight hours. This helps to refresh your eyes and keeps you fresh.

The second most important thing to keep in mind is to wash the eyes properly. Splash your eyes, frequently with cold water during the day. This will help freshen up the eyes. One can use cotton pads soaked in ice water and put them over the eyes for about 10 minutes to relax the eyes.

Intense heat means sitting in a room with AC. Ensure that your eyes are not in directly in front of the cool air.

Cucumber is the most common home remedy to keep the eyes cool. Slice chilled cucumber into thin slices and place them on your eyes for 15 minutes. You can also grate cucumber and place it under your eyes to treat dark circles.

We have all heard of the benefits of aloe vera. The plant can also be used to keep the eyes healthy. Put some aloe vera juice in the eyes, to lessen the summer strain. You could also freeze aloe vera juice as cubes and place them on the eyelids to brighten dull eyes.

Save the eyes by wearing large shades, because sun exposure may cause serious damage to eyes.
