‘Don’t take social media so seriously’

Actor Gurbani Gill agrees to the importance of social media in one’s life, she also lays stress on the fact that one should not be addicted to it. “Social media should not be taken so seriously, because it’s just one part of your life, not your entire life. Social media is a great platform to connect, share and express. And, as an actor, you can influence and draw attention to important issues as well. Social media is a great way for an actor to connect with people, be it for a professional or personal cause, that depends from individual to individual!” she says.

She adds: “Social media is a personal choice, it may hold significant value for someone and may not for someone else. Unfortunately, it can become addictive, so one must keep in check and make healthy choices!”

The actor says that social media popularity does in no way reflect the talent of an artist. “I think talent is something that is described by the craft of an artist. It has nothing to do with social media. Talent is independent of social media popularity. There are a lot of underrated artists out there also. Like I said, social media should not be taken so seriously!” she says.

Ask her what her advice would be to her peers on social media, and she says: “Stay relaxed, express yourself and remember the young generation is looking up to you. I believe that actors should be careful while posting things because people try to emulate us.”
