Virat feat

India skipper Virat Kohli is the only cricketer in the Forbes 2019 list of 100 world's highest-paid athletes. According to the Forbes list which was announced on Tuesday, Kohli estimated earnings is $21 million from endorsements and $4 million from salary and winnings, taking his total tally to $25 million for the last 12 months.  He holds the last spot in the list of top-100 athletes, headed by Barcelona and Argentina football superstar Lionel Messi. Last year, the Indian skipper was ranked 83rd in the list. Messi has led the Forbes list of world's highest-paid athletes for the first time, having unseated boxing great Floyd Mayweather.

Ms dhoni hotel

If you love MS Dhoni and happen to be at Shambhu Bose's restaurant, chances are you might not even have to foot a bill. A die-hard MSD fan, Shambhu not only runs a hotel in Alipurduar district of West Bengal named MS Dhoni hotel, but the 32-year old also feeds every MSD fan for free, who visits his eatery. “This Durga Puja (festival), we will complete two years. Everyone here knows this place well and come to eat here. Ask anybody around for the Dhoni hotel — there's no way you can miss it,” Shambhu told IANS. Quizzed about his affection for the former India skipper, Shambhu said: “He is like no other. I have loved him since I was a child. The way he is, and the way he plays cricket is stuff that legends are made of. He is an inspiration to me.”

 Cloud cover

Just like every other cricket fan, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is also disappointed by rain playing a spoilsport in the ongoing World Cup in England and Wales. So far, three matches have been washed out in the ongoing tournament and the weather predictions for the upcoming matches — including that of the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan — is not good.  Taking to Twitter, Tharoor said either England should be banned from hosting cricket tournaments until the climate change problem across the world is solved or the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) invests in covered stadiums. “With three washouts already (and more due this week), World Cup 2019 is becoming a damp squib. Should England be banned from hosting cricket tournaments until the world solves climate change or the MCC invests in covered stadia? Their summers are increasingly turning into monsoons!” said the Congress leader.

funtastic!

With Rishabh Pant set to join the Indian team in the UK for the World Cup as cover for an injured Shikhar Dhawan, funny posts filled social media, with fans posting tongue-in-cheek pictorial messages as to how the youngster was waiting for his chance with bated breath. Pant was initially ignored as Dinesh Karthik was picked in the 15-member WC squad, triggering mixed reactions from experts as well as fans. Moments after Pant's name surfaced, Twitter was awash with memes such as "Why do you think I came all this way?" which is a famous dialogue from popular HBO TV series Game of Thrones which ended recently.
