Delhi beat Punjab by 5 runs

Vadodara: Lalit Yadav led the lower middle-order fightback with an unbeaten half-century before spinners joined the party as Delhi managed to upstage Punjab by five runs in a group B match of the Vijay Hazare. Coming into bat at 115 for five, Yadav emerged as the top-scorer for Delhi with an unbeaten 53-ball 54 as he steered the team to a respectable 220 for 8 in their stipulated 50 overs. Chasing the total, Anmolpreet Singh (73) kept Punjab in the hunt but they failed to weave partnerships and eventually managed 215 for nine. Navdeep Saini rocked the top order before the spin trioka of Pawan Negi (2/40), Nitish Rana (2/34) and Lalit Yadav (2/22) produced regular breakthroughs to derail Punjab's chase.

Neymar out for 4 weeks say PSG

Paris: Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar will be out for four weeks with a hamstring injury he suffered playing for Brazil, the French club said on Monday. Neymar limped off in the 12th minute on Sunday as Brazil drew 1-1 against Nigeria in a friendly in Singapore. PSG said that an MRI scan showed that their star player had suffered "a grade two lesion" in his left hamstring. If he is out until November 11, Neymar will miss four French league matches, including a trip to Marseille on October 17, and home and away Champions League games against Bruges.

Gauff climbs to 71 in wta rankings

Paris: American prodigy Coco Gauff continued her rise up the ranks of women's tennis on Monday when the WTA rankings showed a climb of 39 places to number 71 in the world. Gauff started last week in Linz at 110 and was originally set for an early departure from Austria after losing in the qualifying rounds before grabbing a lifeline as a lucky loser. She went on to beat 2017 Roland Garros winner Jelena Ostapenko in the final for her maiden title. It marks a meteoric rise for the young American — at the end of 2018, she was 686 in the world. Another good performance in Luxembourg this week could see her knocking on the door of the top 50. There was no movement in the top 20 with Ashleigh Barty retaining the number one spot.
