‘Battery of control unit can be changed’

Election Commission of India in a directive stated that during counting, in case battery of the control unit (CU) get discharge and due to which it is not showcasing the number of votes polled, then Returning Officer can change the battery.

The Returning Officer will have to keep additional power back-up for each counting centre.

Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh Subrat Sahoo on Monday issued a circular to all the Returning Officers of Lok Sabha Parliamentary constituencies of the state in this regard.

The counting of votes for 11 Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh is scheduled on May 23. All the preparations are underway, including training of officers and employees deputed in counting process.
