‘BJP’s main engine in Delhi will derail’

Friday, 19 April 2019 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Coming down heavily on the BJP leadership over its ‘double-engine’ theory, BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday questioned why the saffron party suffered huge losses in the Assembly polls in five major States despite having the so-called success formula.

Addressing a public meeting at Banki in Cuttack district, Patnaik said the BJP’s double engine has already derailed in five States and its ‘main engine’ is going to meet the same fate on May 23 when results of the general elections would be declared.

He questioning that why people of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Punjab ousted the BJP in the Assembly elections in the recent past.

“There was double engine Government of BJP in these five States. What development the party made in these States,” he asked.

Patnaik said, “Many BJP leaders are talking about forming double-engine Government in Centre and Odisha. But the people here want to know from the party as to who is the engine in the State”.

The BJP leaders are making a beeline to the State during election time only to seek votes. The party leaders have gone crazy sensing defeat in the general elections, he claimed.

On the day, Patnaik addressed public meetings in Dhenkanal, Angul and in Cuttack. Patnaik also held a road show from Begunia to Bhubaneswar.
