When Draupadi was insulted in the court and Pandavas wanted to revenge her insult, then began the epic story of Mahabharata. The tale of Mahabharata was narrated in an impactful dance drama 'Dharamshetre -Kurukshetre'.
The ballet was a depiction of Gita teachings and Mahabharata scenes were staged in the form of dance-drama 'Dharmkshetre-Kurukshetre'. The dance drama was staged at Shaheed Bhavan auditorium here on Monday.
The dance drama was a mixture of Chhau, contemporary dance, and the blend of Manipuri and Satariya dance forms. Interestingly, some shades of shadow performance were also added to the ballet to give it more charismatic look. The entire dance drama was scripted by Yogesh Tripathi and the music is composed by Shruti Dharmesh.
Directed by Shruti Kirti, the dance drama 'Gita Saar: Dharmkshetre-Kurukshetre' was perfomed by the artists of Chaitanya Socio-Cultural Society, Bhopal. The artists recreated various teachings of Gita, positive messages and devotion to life through staging different dances.
Dharmakshtre : Kurukshtre attempts at taking a new approach to the Mahabharata. Here, characters appear one by one, revealing themselves as the story progresses, opening new dimensions and challenges for mankind. This thrilling epic not only narrated the story of Mahabharata but also reflected the current generation.
It is known that due to the insults of Draupadi by the Kauravas and the defeat of Guru Drona by King Dhrupad, Mahabharata war is believed to have happened. In the field of Kurukshetra, the armies of Pandavas and Kauravas see each other face-to-face. Arjun, on the other hand when see Bhishma and Drona in opposing army, he puts down the weapons. In this scene the artist's acting skills were filled with viewers watching.
Lord Krishna's teachings spontaneously thrilled the audience. So, in Gita he is urging people across the world to follow the path, of guidance and truth. This theatrical presentation inspired viewers to be positive about the various dimensions of life and to be confident.
