The Nikhila Odisha Asha Karmi Sangha on Tuesday slammed the Centre for doubling Asha Workers’ incentive without considering the Parliamentary Standing Committee’s recommendation of fixing a monthly allowance for them.
“In 2010, the Parliamentary Standing Committee had recommended to the Union Government for fixing monthly allowance of Asha Workers. The Government is yet to consider the proposal.
The recent decision to double the allowance is very ridiculous,” association functionaries said, adding that they would take to the streets soon to put pressure on the Government for fulfillment of their demand.
The Sangha also decided to hold a State-level conference in Sundargarh for two days on November 16 and 17.
The hundredth year of the All India Trade Union Congress would be held on the occasion and strategies would be made for the proposed January 8, 2020 conference to be held in Puri against the anti-worker policy of the State Government.
