The problems in the Shree Jagannath Temple could be no more if the shrine is run as per a religious path shown 2,500 years ago, said Sankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati on Sunday in a high-level meeting of Government authorities, academics, legal luminaries, priests and servitors of the temple.

“An environment must be created where everybody accomplishes his duty honestly as a prime duty bestowed by the Adiguru after re-establishing the trinity in the shrine,” said Saraswati.

Exhorting to bring the old glory of the temple back, the top seer of Hindus advised to follow a 14-point charter of norms and doctrines to end the crisis for all time to come.

The 14-point charter of advices, the Sankaracharya issued, included preparation of Jagannath Sahmita by religious experts as per the guidelines of Rig Veda, Skanadapuran, Bamadev Sahmita, Niladrimahoday and their implementations, establishment of educational institution and professional training for the children of servitors and Brahmins, use of genuine goods in the rites and rituals, on-time practices of rites and rituals of deities, brotherly behaviours of servitors towards pilgrims, lands to poor servitors and priests, retrenchment of erring servitors from their rights, maintaining quality of Mahaprasad and sales in genuine prices etc.

In the meeting Gajapati Dibyasinghadev, chief of the temple administration Pradipta Mahapatra, Vice-Chancellor of KIIT Harekrusna Satapathy, besides the Law Secretary, Endowment Commissioner and Puri Collector were present.

The Sankaracharya on Tuesday last had invited the Governor, the Chief Minister, the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, Gajapati Maharaja, Muktimandap, besides the servitors to the mutt premises on Sunday for deliberations on the temple problems.

In an emotional appeal from Kumbhamela in UP, Saraswati had said he felt it urgent to call upon the stakeholders for a permanent solution to problems before the situation spins out of control in the Puri temple.
