Local Congress MLA K Suriya Rao on Sunday alleged that the State Government is announcing schemes to get political benefit only while all of its earlier schemes have failed to benefit people.
“The PEETHA yojana has not achieved any of its targets. BJD workers and supporters are getting benefit out of KALIA scheme and sports items through the Biju Yuva Vahini. Cyclone Titli affected people and farmers have not got assistances,” he alleged.
Stating that Cyclone Titli damages in Gajapati district has not been done properly and irregularities have occurred in distribution of assistances, the MLA demanded that a Vigilance investigation be conducted into all irregularities.
Rao threatened that the Congress would take to the streets soon if the demands are not met soon.
Among others, Congress district president Bibuti Patro, city president Basant Kumar Panda, former ZP Chairman Akhaya Wai, Ramachandra Rao, Sangram Sahoo, Suddhiranjan Mohapatra and K Bhargab were present.
