Quality education should be prioritised in the manifestos of all the parties in the coming elections and if they don’t focus on this, we will boycott casting our votes, warned members of the School Management Committee (SMC) Federation here on Thursday.
At a State-level SMC Federation meeting, the representatives from nearly 25 districts alleged that due to apathetic attitude of the State Government towards State-run schools, the quality of education is deteriorating and the sufferers are the children.
The federation has listed nearly 15 demands to put forth before all parties to include these in their election manifesto.
Federation convenor Anupama Pradhan said, “We demand that in State run schools education standards should be improved. For, this a detail education policy should be framed; teachers should be appointed through Staff Selection Board; MLE (multi-lingual education) programme should be implemented in fully tribal schools and 25 per cent should be allotted in State Budget for education.”
The members also said apart from giving it to political parties they will also sensitise parents in remote villages.
