While preparing the Master Plan of the city, the focus should be on the welfare of the general public instead of a select few. The Plan must include place for labourers and attention should also be paid on facilities to ensure their better standard of living. This will ensure that the slum area does not increase. This was stated by Director General of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis (AIGGPA) R Parashuram during the training of newly-appointed Assistant Directors of Town and Country Planning.
Parashuram said that the planner should first himself think what would be better for him and accordingly make the plan. The plan should focus on the development of the present as well as the future. Various dimensions of livelihood should be seriously considered. While making the Master Plan, small common needs should also be taken into consideration along with big projects.
During the training, information regarding Colonizer Rules and development of unauthorized colonies was given by President of SPA Delhi, Architect Amogh Gupta, economy of land use by Prof Binayak Chaudhary of SPA Bhopal and urban governance by Senior Consultant Professor HM Mishra.
