The 6th triennial general council meeting of the National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE) was organised here on Sunday by the State Bank of India (SBI) Staff Association, Bhubaneswar Circle, under the leadership association general secretary SP Behera.
SBI Bhubaneswar Circle CGM Praveena Kala, NCBE president SC Balaji and general secretary Sanjeev Kumar Bandlish attended as guests. Kala advised the members to motivate customers towards digitalisation for better services.
Bandlish, criticising the Government for dual policies, said while the gross profit of almost all the banks is increasing each year, but provisioning major portion thereof towards NPA is putting the bank in red. It is high time the Government should take stringent measures to recover the bad loans, he added.
Besides, issues of closure and merger of banks, privatisation, staff shortage and early settlement of salary revision of bank employees were discussed.
On the occasion, NCDB deputy general secretary Rajat Kumar Mohapatra was felicitated for attending superannuation from bank service on July 31.
Among others, Annada Shankar Jena, Siddhartha Khan, Animesh Chhaterjee, Milind Nadkarni and SBI Staff Association chief secretary Rajesh Kumar Tripathi were present.
