Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take speedy action against Pakistan and teerrorism after around 40 CRPF personnel were killed in a terrorist attack in Pulwama.

Addressing a public meeting at the grain market here on Sunday, the SAD president offered tributes to the martyrs of Pulwama and said their sacrifice foe the motherland would not be allowed to go to waste. “I appeal to PM Narendra Modi to take stringent action against Pakistan”.

He said Pakistan is trying to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir like it had tried to destabilise Punjab and Haryana.

“Such plots will never be allowed to succeed”, he added.

Urging Punjabis to unite under the banner of SAD, Badal said the SAD has always been in the forefront of the fight for people’s rights.

“Punjabis need a voice in Haryana and the SAD is best equipped to represent them”, he said adding Punjabis could easily decide the outcome of 30 to 40 seats in Haryana.

The SAD president said Parkash Singh Badal had laid the foundation of a welfare state in Punjab by giving free power to farmers and also starting unique schemes like aata - daal.

He said the SAD is also committed to making each village a model village by ensuring 100 per cent sewerage and water supply. “We will implement this in Haryana once we form the government in the state”, he added.

Calling the Congress party as the biggest enemy of the Sikh community, Sukhbir said the Congress was responsible for desecrating Sri Darbar Sahib and indulging in genocide of Sikhs in 1984.

SAD Haryana incharge and Balwinder Singh Bhundar MP (Rajya Sabha) announced that the party would hold rallies in the forthcoming days in Pehowa besides other places in the state. Former Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said worker meetings would be held across the state in phases and that the party is committed to fight the next assembly elections with or without any alliance with another party in Haryana.

Senior leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa while speaking on the occasion said the party could emerge as a force in Haryana as it had in the case of Delhi.

He said Sikhs across the country and the world looked up to the SAD to solve all problems being faced by the community.
