‘Reject corrupt leaders, press NOTA’

Friday, 19 April 2019 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

National convenor of Netaji Subhas Birth Soil Yatra, president Utkala Bikasha Juba Parisada and a prominent leader of Social Justice Movement Debiprasad Prusti has appealed the voters and particularly the voters of the three Assembly segments of Bhubaneswar like North, Central and Ekamra to vote for NOTA (None of the Above) in order to reject all mainstream party candidates.

Each voter should ask himself or herself why Odisha is poor andwhy our State is backward during 40 years of two family rules in Odisha and also during last five years of BJP rule in Centre, said Prusti.

Expressing his disappointment over the selection of candidates, Prusti said the three major political parties have not given importance to good leaders.

Parties in Odisha are encouraging dynastic politics and defection. Party hopping for narrow political gains is a common trend in all parties and it is more dangerous than AIDS and cancer, Prusti said.

Leaders of three parties are remote controlled by mining mafias and there is unholy nexus between the leaders with such kind of people, said Prusti. He stated that all leaders are silent on Rs 2 lakh-crore mega mining loot and Rs 50,000 crore penalty waiver for the mining mafias.

Number of liquor shop is fifty times more than that of hospitals and leaders of different parties are the owners. Some are contesting.

When farmers are committing suicides both State and Central Governments are writing off loans worth lakhs of crores of rupees to big industrial houses on plea of giving them concessions, he lamented.

Prusti also rued that there is a conspiracy to squeeze tribals’ rights over forest resources. “Tribals are gunned down while they cry against displacement and breach of FRA. 98 percent Dalits, tribals, minorities, poor farmers, labourers, slumdwellers are oppressed.

Hence, at this juncture, NOTA is the right decision,” said Prusti.
