Friday, 06 December 2019 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

“We aim to develop distressed or under-privileged children into good citizens and contributor to the civil society and in progress of the country”, said National Director and General Secretary, SOS India, Sudharshan Suchi while speaking with ‘The Pioneer’ at SOS village, Bhopal, on Wednesday.

He further added that these children should not be treated with bias as society has huge rift of haves and have- nots and to make this possible, every possible effort to make them feel safe, secure and pampered by home is made at the SOS village.

Having rich experience from the inception of Reliance Foundation to working along with Kurien, Suchi brings bagful of experience from varied field and is a believer of development of the most deprived and needy children of the society and only this has brought him to SOS village.

The mother and children relationship is the purest one and SOS is based on providing family-like support which is unique from any other shelter home for children, he added.

Another important aspect is education which is utmost important and it is ensured that quality education is imparted to every child at SOS village.

The way forward is to create enabling environment for children in distress by Family Support Programme which is aimed at identifying situations in which children are marooned and we provide support to children and family which is a holistic approach. In the past one year, 17,500 children have been reached through our Family Support Programme across the 32 SOS Children village.
