Misrod police have nabbed a miscreant involved in illegally transporting liquor near Shankar Mandir on Monday and seized a loading auto rickshaw carrying 99 litres of country made liquor in 11 cartons.
According to the police, acting on a tip off regarding loading auto rickshaw carrying country made liquor and acted swiftly and seized the van in which one man was nabbed while another managed to escape.
The nabbed man was questioned regarding the liquor but he failed to provide documents related to the liquor.
The miscreant was identified as Santosh alias Ravishankar Ahirwar while the absconding accused was identified as Lacchu alias Laxminarayan Sharma.
Police said that the nabbed accused confessed that used to sell the liquor but the sources of procuring liquor are yet to be found would be investigated in the further investigation.
The nabbed accused confessed that the liquor belonged to Lacchu who went absconding and he was only hired for transportation.
The buyers of the liquor provided by the accused would be investigated in the further investigation.
The police have registered a case under section 34 of the Excise Act.
The action was taken in the ongoing checking drive in the wake of upcoming festival and Independence Day.
Police said that the loading auto rickshaw was coming from Mandideep.
The main accused Lacchu was sitting on the back side of the loading auto rickshaw and as soon as it was stopped he escaped the spot.
The crime record of the Lacchu and involvement in illegal transport of liquor would be investigated.
