In the campaign resumed by Dehradun Regional Transport Office (RTO) against modified vehicles from Tuesday onward, RTO on Wednesday seized 10 such vehicles, dismantled them, kept the chassis and sold the other parts to a scrap dealer. On the first day, the RTO had seized two such vehicles at Gandhi Road.
The RTO is next planning to start the campaign against modified food vans.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Arvind Pandey said, “We have been receiving complaints about the operation of such vehicles.
Earlier also, we had conducted such campaigns but it appears that issuing challan alone is not enough. So this time, we are dismantling such vehicles, the chassis is being seized while the rest of the parts we are selling to the scrap dealer. Whatever money comes out of it, we give to the defaulter.”
It is pertinent to mention here that RTO is next going to target the illegal operation of food trucks in the city area.
According to officials, not even one of the food vans, plying in Dehradun, is permitted to operate.
