Tuesday, 20 August 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

The 108 ambulance service, launched by Ziqitza Healthcare Limited (ZHL), is set to improve the health care system of Jharkhand. In all 24 districts of the State, the institution is providing its services through a total of 317 ambulances, and so far has proved to be helpful for hundreds of people. The ambulances are reaching the rugged rural areas on just one call and are set to extend its services to every resident of the State. According to Sumit Basu, Project Head, ZHL, Ziqitza ambulances have proved to be a boon especially for pregnant women and children.

Referring to the ambulance's facilities, Bsu said that all 317 ambulances are equipped with other high tech facilities like GPS, so that the emergency patient can get first aid in the ambulance itself and keep his position stable till he reaches the hospital. Further, he said, “It gives us great satisfaction to know that our efforts have played an important role in serving the people of Jharkhand. Most of our operations are in Tier II and Tier III areas, where the roads are not in good condition, causing serious problems. So we are constantly making efforts to ensure that our vehicles and technicians are able to cope with every situation and are ready with the relevant equipment.

The firm has taken several steps to enhance its services, and has ensured to meet the needs of every person. The company trains its ambulance drivers to maintain the maintenance of their vehicles. Supervisors are appointed in each district to monitor maintenance activities. Regular reviews are done to check the status of the company's off road ambulance.

Basu said that in Jharkhand, ZHL started its services in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Hazaribagh districts with 33 ambulances on 15 November 2017. The journey has now turned into 317 active ambulances. One can avail emergency services at any time by calling 108 toll free number. At present Ziqitza Ambulance is covering 700 patients per day, and is working to deliver more than 20 thousand patients to the hospital door in a month. At the same time, more than 2 lakh 20 thousand people have availed Ziqitza Ambulance in the past two years.
