109th Corps of Signals Day celebrated at Military College of Telecommunication Engineering

The 109th Corps of Signals Day was celebrated at Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) Mhow over the past week from February 10 to 17.

Corps of Signals were raised on February 15, 1911 and since then, Corps of Signals Raising Day is celebrated with great zeal & enthusiasm. Various programmes are organised on this occasion in which officers, JCOs and other ranks participate.

In continuation with this tradition, a variety of programmes were organised on this occasion at MCTE. A colourful and action packed function, fondly called `Pagal

Gymkhana’ was organised on February 10, 2019. Lt Gen Milind N Bhurke, VSM, Commandant MCTE and Colonel Commandant Corps of Signals and Geetanjali M Bhurke,

Chairperson, Family Welfare Organisation, MCTE graced the occasion.

A host of activities including fun races, fancy dress competition, stand up comedy show and display of Flash Band and Corps of Signals No 1 Pipes and Drums Band was organized which held the audience mesmerized for over an hour. A ‘Barakhana’ in the traditional style was

organized for over 2500 personnel including 200 veterans who attended this grand function.

Commandant’s Special Sainik Sammelan was conducted on February 15, 2019 at the Hermes Open Air Theatre for all officers, JCOs, other ranks and civil defence employees of MCTE. Commandant Lt Gen Milind N Bhurke, VSM on this occasion emphasized the role and endeavour of the Corps of Signals in Modernizing the Indian Army into a Net Centric force.

On this occasion, the Commandant appealed everybody to rededicate themselves in transforming the Corps into an enviable force in the areas of Communication Tech, Electronic Warfare, Cyber operation and Artificial intelligence to metamorphose the Indian Army into Net Centric and Info Operation capable force.
