Giridih police have arrested two men on the charge of smuggling liquor, after 13 boxes of alcohol were found in the Scorpio they were travelling in, said SDPO Jit Wahan Oraon Giridih. Dhanajay Kumar, the driver and resident of Pachamba and one minor have been charged with sections of the Excise Act.
Police said a police team was on a patrol on Giridih-Deoghar road when they signalled a Scorpio to stop.
On checking it, they found 13 boxes of liquor kepty in the trailer.
Oraon said they also found the accused in possession of few thousand rupees unaccounted cash. “We are questioning the accused to know the source of the liquor,” said the SDPO “We are hoping to get more information from them and might make more arrests in the case,” he added.
