nIn a special drive by Delhi Police on Thursday night around 153 people were booked under Excise Act for drinking in public places in national Capital’s Outer-North district.
According to Gaurav Sharma, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Outer-North district, in view to nab people drinking in public places, all the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and Station House Officers (SHOs) were tasked to form group patrolling teams.
“They were directed to keep a vigil on such violators at markets, dark stretches, parks, semi developed malls and in cars,” said the DCP.
“On July 11, a drive under Excise Act was conducted against the people drinking in public places. The teams of all the eight Police stations of Outer North district complied with the instructions in a letter. A total of 153 people have been booked under section 40 of Delhi Excise Act for drinking in public places in all eight districts,” said the DCP.
“Drive began on July 11 from 6 pm to 10.30 pm. The initiative was a part of patrolling and no complaint received regarding any such matter All ACP and Inspectors are also tasked with definite targets to achieve and stretch to cover and they will continue in future too,” said the DCP.
