196 kg of smack, heroin recovered

The sale, transportation and usage of narcotics, drugs and other psychotropic substances are increasingly becoming a major problem in the national Capital. Data from Delhi Police shows that in  2018, over 196 kg of smack and heroin were recovered, almost four times the amount as compared to 2017.

With 493 cases registered in 2018 under the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, Delhi Police have successfully been able to arrest 662 persons in relation with the cases. In the year 2017, 362 cases were registered under the NDPS Act, and 491 persons were arrested.

The overall reported consumption of Charas saw a decline with 14.1 kg recovered last year compared to 58.4 kg in 2017. However, there was a significant increase in the recovery of Opium with 53.7 kg last year in contrast to 19.6 kg in 2017.
