2 dead, 1 missing, 4 injured as car fails to negotiate nullah in spate

Two women drowned, one man is missing and three were injured after the Innova in which they were trying to cross a nullah in spate was swept away in the torrent. The tourists were travelling from Delhi to Marchula, Ramnagar when the mishap occurred.

According to information received, the driver of a vehicle carrying tourists from Delhi was trying to negotiate a seasonal nullah near Dhangarhi when the vehicle was swept away by the strong current. Two sisters drowned as a result of the mishap while one person is missing. Four of the persons in the vehicle sustained injuries and were admitted to the hospital for treatment. Search for the missing person was continuing till the time of this report being filed. Resident of Rohini in Delhi, Vikas Kedia along with his wife Rachna and daughter Suhani, his brother in-law Sudhir Garg, his wife Shikha and their son Arpit along with Vania Agrawal were on their way to Marchula. When they came to the seasonal nullah near Dhangarhi the locals advised them to not cross the channel in spate. A local name Sonu offered to drive their vehicle across the nullah and as soon as he drove into the channel, the vehicle was swept away by the strong current. Later the sub divisional magistrate Harigiri Goswami, police and rescue team member reached the site. They were able to recover the bodies of Rachna and Shikha Garg. While they were unable to trace Vikas Kedia with search still continuing, the injured persons including Suhani, Vania, Arpit and Sonu were rescued and admitted to the government hospital for treatment.
